The other day my alternator started to give me problems and went out. I replaced the alt with a 61 amp from O'Reilly Auto and a Borg Warner Select Regulator (R281) When I started the car with the new parts the "GEN" light would flash and the regulator was humming and the car would not turn off (it does have msd). I put the old (non oem) regulator back on and it was working just fine. Is it the wrong regulator? or a defective one?
