Title: 2017 Grand National Meet Information
Post by: Bill Hedge CLC 14424 on June 01, 2016, 02:30:37 PM
See:    http://www.vfrclc.org/2017gn.html

Note:  Hotel reservations cannot be made until Monday, August 8. We will have phone numbers, code, and a hyper link on our GN web site a few days prior.  The HIlton's computer cannot release the entire room block for 365 days from contract date, and this is the reason for the change from the prior date of Sunday, July 31.  I will update more as I receive additional information.

For anyone wanting a room at the Hilton. There are a few rooms remaining for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at the rate of $129.00 and a small number available for $289.00 per night for earlier in the week.  Also, the backup hotel, The Westin, still has rooms available at only $139.00 for the entire week.  The Westin is only one mile away and we will be providing a shuttle to ensure members can attend and get back from all tours and functions.  Based on early registrations, this is going to be the largest Grand National ever.  Please check our web page constantly for updated information.  www.vfrclc.org, hit 2017 GN page!

Are Display only cars parked with judged cars or are they parked in a separate area?

This is not correct.

"Display Only" cars will be parked among the "judged" cars in chronological order by year.  The only cars that will have their own separate display area are those in the Modified Division.

If in doubt, please contact CLC Chief Judge Bill Anderson.

Just an update. Registrations are pouring into Mike Book and Lauren Schweitzer.  They are working diligently to get confirmations out. Please take the time to check and verify all information.  We have just added additional rooms at the backup hotel, The Westin.  Presently 117 members are staying there.  As stated above, we will provide a constant shuttle from around 7:30 in the morning until around 10:30 in the evening for everyone's convenience.

As a reminder, the show field can only hold 435 cars and some of the tours on Thursday evening have a maximum amount of attendees allowed. Please do not procrastinate, mail today!

Just a quick update.  Member registrations are coming into Lauren in large numbers. To date she has received approximately 135 registrations.  There is an issue with the program to send out confirmations, this issue should be resolved by Wednesday night and everyone should receive their registration confirmation.  Mike Book also has a lot of vehicles registered.  As of about a week ago, he had 149 cars registered and he is updating his records daily.  If you have ANY questions about registering your car or which division or class, please call Bill Anderson, National Chief Judge.  He will be more than glad to assist you in your registration.  Also, if you are going to register your car and do not want to judge, you do not have to attend a workshop or seminar, but it would be good information to obtain.

Several tours have a limit on the number of attendees that can attend.  The Mt Vernon, both Thursday night tours with dinner, and the ladies style show and tea on Saturday.  We built the computer program to stop selling tickets when the max number is sold.  I cannot stress the urgency of everyone to register NOW.

We still have plenty of rooms available at the Westin Hotel, our backup hotel, which are all new and extremely nice.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns.  Ronnie Hux 302-745-8850 cadiman59@aol.com

I received a request from Lauren Schweitzer, our registrar for the 2017 GN. Please DO NOT send your registration certified mail, in a large flat envelope, or a priority mail envelope.  The large envelopes will not fit into her post office box and she only gets to pick up her mail after hours, so that delays your registration. She has now processed approximately 165 member registrations and all came in regular envelopes via regular mail. Please abide by her request to expedite your registration.

Lauren Schweitzer, our 2017 Registrar asked that I post this message for her.  She asks that you please check your spam folder for your confirmation. We have had several members who said they had not received their confirmation, to be told that look there and find it waiting. Because the confirmations are coming from donotreply@cadillaclasalleclub.org we think this happening many times.  If anyone has not received their confirmations, please contact me and I will be glad to assist. Registrations of members and cars continue at a very fast pace.  We have approximately 255 of the 435 allocated spaces in the show field registered. That only leaves the ability to register only 180 more Cadillac and LaSalle automobiles.  We now have 260 member registrations along with spouses/partners and about 68 additional guests plus 25 youth.  We feel that we are a little over one half of the way with member registrations with the 505 room reservations we have.  Several of the tours and venues are approaching maximum capacity and will be sold out within days.  I will post a list of sold out venues as soon as Lauren reaches the magic number on these.  If you have not sent in your car registration or membership registration, please take the time to mail today.  We want everyone to come and enjoy this huge event.  We are still working on a few surprises that will please everyone.  The Westin Hotel (backup hotel) has more rooms if needed.  For those interested, we have scheduled four (4) outstanding techincal seminars and they are listed on our web page under the tab "seminars"  we will be posting more updates very soon. If anyone has a question or needs assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Thanks, Ronnie Hux, General Chairman 2017 Grand National, cadiman59@aol.com, or cell 302-745-8850

We have received confirmation that the 1953 Cadillac LeMans Motorama car owned by Scott Milestone (LeMans #3) will appear at the 2017 Grand National. Of the four LeMans ever built, LeMans #3 is the only one remaining in original condition. The only other one known to exist is LeMans #4, which is owned by the General Motors (GM) Heritage Center. It was substantially restyled by GM in the late ‘50s included being fitted with a new engine. The two were together perhaps for the first time ever at Capitol Cadillac for Cadillac Dream Cars Weekend in 2008. Here is an opportunity to see one of the most significant cars ever built by General Motors!

The Dinner Cruise on the Potomoc River on Thursday night has sold out! I am sorry, but the boat only holds 150 members and we have no back up boat.  Also, several of the other tours are approaching maximum enrollment.  Please, please send in your registration to Lauren today to reserve your choices.  This is going to be a huge event and so many members from around the globe are attending. We are also working on some surprises that we will be announcing within the next few weeks or month.  See everyone in DC.
