Suggested Policy for Listing in "For Sale" Subforum
« on: December 30, 2013, 09:41:27 AM »
It is my feeling that it should become a requirement that an asking price be listed for any item offered for sale in the For Sale section of the CLC forum, in addition to specifying the location of the item by city & state.

As same policy applies to classified advertisements in the Self-Starter, I see no reason why it should not apply here.

One man's opinion.

Saves the trouble of 5 guys asking ; where is it ?  or ; how much do you want. ?

I handle a message board for a musical interest of mine.

It's easy to add forums, and I think we should subdivide the "For Sale" area:

1.  Cars for sale
2.  Cars wanted
3.  Parts for sale
4.  Parts wanted

Just my opinion.

Brian:

It does not seem that long ago that we divided the Want to Buy out of the For Sale Forum.  However, I think you are right, and thay it is time for a further division.  I will raise the issue with my fellow modertors and will recommend to the IT (Information Technowledge) committee that such a change be adopted.

I too support further dividing the forum and we can remind posters via a sticky on the forums that price, location, and contact information are strongly encouraged for the success of the ad.

Thanks for raising the issue Eric and to all who have made suggestions.

What if the seller wants to sell to the highest bidder?  There should be a OBO option.
Also if the object is small like a shop manual why should the seller say where it is as long as the shipping cost is worked out.

As long as an asking price is stated, I see no issue with a seller including an "OBO" provision.

The subdivision of categories as outlined by Brian is an excellent suggestion as well.

Thank you Mr Hedge for your efforts in addressing these matters.
