Lost topic
« on: August 27, 2016, 06:16:56 AM »
Years ago, I wrote a topic about the vacuum manifold for '54 to '58 models. Most probably this topic was located here: http://www.cadillaclasalleclub.org/forum/index.php/topic,108350.0.html
Unfortunately, when I click on that link, I'm getting the message that this post is not found.
By searching "vacuum manifold", I have 15 pages to search (which I did) but what I post is not there.

Any solution or explanation?

I can think of a couple of possibilities. The archives have a definite life span, I am not sure how long it is though.

I am pretty sure the system changed a few years ago also??

That's right, the system changed not so long ago. I don't remember exactly when I wrote that thread; probably 2009. I can find rather old topics; could be that the link from the older topics are not recognized by the newer system.

Have you tried looking though your own posts Roger? I just had a look and they go beyond 2009.

Well, Steve, your remark seems logical but I don't know how to do it...
Edit: I found how to do and I found the topic: http://forums.cadillaclasalleclub.org/index.php?topic=108350.msg160157#msg160157 .When I put that link into "search", I'm getting nothing probably because the system changed.
Anyway, the topics are not lost, it's just a matter how to get at them!

I clicked on the link in your post above and the thread came right up.  That is information that needs to be available to all owners of cars of that era.

Probably my explanation is not clear: if I drag the link into an Internet browser (similar to sending the link to somebody else), the topic is not found. It can only be opened into the forum.

I see what you mean. Perhaps thats something being prevented just on the forum?

What browser are you using?  I copied and pasted it into a new tab, a new page and I copied and pasted    it into notepad, then I copied and pasted it into a new page and they all worked.  I am using Internet Explorer.

It seems that I tried previously the wrong way. As I got the answer from Glen, I tried IE and Firefox (the second browser with the correct way) and, effectively, I'm getting to the post.
Thanks for all who showed me the light!
