So last year cruising craigslist I find a 1950 61 series 4 door.  The car was owned by the same man from 1963 to present day.  He was forthright about the car and informative so I took a small trip with friends dragging a car hauler to show the owner I meant business.  We find the car tucked away in a small garage at an old farm.  We do end up starting it and I drive it up and down the road a few miles on a very cold damp day.  Buy it, haul it home, and drive it for a bit before fate decided the engine was to be rebuilt before any more fun could be had.

It has a 54 engine, so no numbers matching but I am still concentrating on getting it to look at authentic as could be had. Codes tell me it was originally a Berkshire blue with French gray two tone paint scheme.  The interior is coded for gray as well but darned if I don't see a tan looking but original looking interior.  I don't know about all that yet.  Engine is at machine shop now.  Bored .30 over and a mild performance cam.  Pictures to follow when I am able.

I would like to know why this post was moved from the restoration section.   :-[

I''m a moderator and it beats me. However, "more" people may see your tale of how you got the car in the general discussion group anyway. (I haven't checked into the restoration spot for ages myself...)

If you wish to start another thread on what you've done to the car, feel free to do so. And in any case, welcome, and congratulations on your find.

The restoration section is for blogging. Basically a thread that someone updates with progress they make on their restorations to tell a story.

This topic didn't fit with what a blog is.

Art is absolutely right. I have had several cars with Tan interiors that started out Gray. By removing seats or panels the true colour can be seen where the sun doesn't shine.

Yep!  I took out the seats recently and can see a clear distinct line where the bottom seat was not exposed to the sun being under the back part of the seat.  It is subtle, but is a difference between tan and gray.  I am still quite amazed as to how uniformly the interior went to tan, as if it were done deliberate.
