Were power windows standard on the DeVilles starting in 1949? If not when did they become standard. And I believe they were standard on the Eldorados starting in 1953. Any one know when power vent windows became available?

Power windows were standard on Coupe de Villes from 1949 when the first CDVs were built.

The new Coupe De Ville, introduced late in the model year, had hydraulic power windows and power seat (as did the convertible and the 60S).

All Cadillac convertibles in the 1950s, including the 1953 Eldorado, had standard power windows and power front seat.

In 1954 the complicated Hydro-E-Lectric power windows and seat were replaced by electric power windows and seat. Changes like this were made possible after Cadillac switched from 6 volt to 12 volt systems in 1953.

The 1957 Eldorado Brougham introduced power vent windows.  In 1958, these were an optional on other models and standard on Eldorado and 60S.

One of our chapter members has a '60 flattop.

It has just about every option *except* power windows.

You've got to wonder what they were thinking . . . .

(It's also the best looking 4-door anything I've ever seen, and the only one I've coveted . . .)

1967 was the last year you could get crank windows in a Calais.
