1991 Cadillac De Ville 4.9 horizontal engine.  The heater only gets luke warm.  I have done the following:  Replaced thermostat, heater core, water pump.  The heater door works fine.  I have placed cardboard in front of the radiator.  The engine does not get hot enough.  Should I put a hotter thermostat in?  I know these engines can blow a head gasket pretty easily.  R.Crump

Have you use one of those IR temp guns to verify temps at various places around the engine and hoses to prove its not around 200*F in some places?      I don't remember these engines having trouble staying warm its usually the other way.    With the head gasket issues people tend to overdue the stop leak and plug up various passages.
