On AACA forums under Cadillac - LaSalle in General Motors Products , identification is requested. I thought '38 is slightly wider. Suggested she count the vertical rows on hers , and compare with pic of '37 I posted. Since I am NOT 100% sure , I am 100% sure someone here IS 100% sure. On behalf of Victoria Lynn , thank you. The grille is for sale , looks pretty good , Vic' just wants to get a fair price to both parties. I don't know what that is , you decide.  - Carl

As I recall in the distant past, the '37 LaS grill tapers slightly at the top where I think the '38 is more straight up and down. I got out the book and a magnifying glass and counted ten squares at the top from an actual photo. The '38 has way more than ten.

Barry is right.  As I have owned both it is easy to see the difference. The 38 grill being wider and almost the same as the 37 Cadillac. I used to think it seemed like LaSalle used up all the leftover 37 Cadillac grills when Cadillac changed theirs in 38 ;D
From my pictures posted the difference is clear but only if you had the two side by side. I can see the difficulty just looking at one.
Counting the squares at about the middle section the 37 has 22 squares right across whereas the 38 has about 26.

Thank you very much , my friends. You have dead nailed it as a '38. Vic' is open to offers , neither she nor I know what to expect , she is starting at $600. She has posted one pic , but can supply more. From the one pic , I cannot see any damage whatsoever. But we know about pics , and Vic' is very smart and hard working , and I am confident she can supply any and all details photographically. The grille is in Portland , OR. Check the referenced AACA topic if interested.   - Carl

I picked up a '37 LaS grille from a hearse about a hundred and twenty five miles away from me. I think the whole family went one day down to Spencer, IN. Don't remember how I even heard about it. I always hated to have not gotten the running boards off as they were nice. As I recall, the grill had only about three pits on it. This must have been fifty years ago. We wish your friend "good luck."
