Need ONE GOOD USED convertible top piston. 65-70 are the same and will fit either side. Figured I would check here first as the condition may be truly known as good or not.

I would suggest getting 2 new ones.

A used cylinder that has been sitting around dry might have bad seals in it, plus the top needs to rise and retract at the same rate on both sides.  Mismatched cylinders may cause the top to rack or go up crooked.

Plus, the other cylinder is probably getting ready to go too.

Yep, buy two new ones and be done with it.  Replace the lines while you're in there.  I bought mine on eBay and got them a little cheaper than buying thru the normal channels, though they are from the same seller (hydro-e or conver top specialists).

I know better. Sounds like a silly request from a cheapskate, however, the lines and motor are newer and the other piston shows no signs of leaking. Just thought if someone had a good one they were tired of kicking around. I did it once before years ago with good luck. Just sayin.

Do they come apart for service?  Every town usually has a hydraulic service place for farm equipment and construction equipment. Maybe they can replace  seal or o ring ?

They do not. It's constructed like a shock absorber. It would the same as trying to rebuild one of those. Possible but not realistic. I have one if you would like to write me directly. Jeff@WillingtonCadillac.com in CT

Replace BOTH believe me I tried to cheapskate my way thru replacing one cylinder and spent a fortune fixing the results! And don't cut corners with the local places that do farm equipment they usually do not  know how to make the smaller fittings that can handle the pressure and when the wrong fitting blows you'll have one hell of a mess. I use Hydro-E-lectric out of Florida and have had no problems, and it saved alot of money doing it right the first time!
