bolt circle on flywheel

Can anyone help identify the use of the inner bolt circle on this flywheel.  I beleive it is out of an early-50's Cad and I am planning on using it in my 49.  As you can see, the driven disc (the clutch disc) has a larger diameter than the bolt circle, so the holes get covered up.  The holes are threaded, and it appears that the disc is not effected by them.

The flywheel on the 1949 and later Cadillacs is a 14 inch diameter style. I'm wondering if you might have a clutch from a '48 and earlier car, that used a 15 inch flywheel.

BTW......I hope that you're not going to install that scuzzy mess of a flywheel on ANYTHING!!!

Ha!  No, if this flywheel is correct for the car, which I am thinking it is, I'll have it reconditioned along with the disc and pressure plate.  The disc in the set is 11".
This came from a guy who was going to use an early 50's motor in a hot rod in the 60's/70's, so I am wondering if this flywheel was modified for some kind of high-performance clutch disc and pressure plate.

Your best bet is to go to a clutch rebuilder with this question. From the picture, the flywheel could be correct for a '49 car. The clutch rebuilder will be able to get you on the right track.

I will try to attach a photo of a 50's setup. In contrast to your "mystery" flywheel, it does not have the deep outerlip  (much deeper than that found on the flathead flywheel). Note the location of the ring gear as well.And, though it is not visible, the flywheel  bolts go through a flat surface, not the recessed holes in the picture. I am not familiar with 1937 and earlier Cads, but this looks like it could be from a multi-disc clutch setup.
I don't think this is working!

yes, that looks the same as Jay Friedman's clutch setup, including the flywheel.  The thickness of your flywheel makes it look like it weighs a lot more.  Pressure plate has significant differences, too.  Notably, mine has 4 engagement levers, versus three on yours, and 6 bolt pattern to mount it to the flywheel, versus 8 on mine.

Dan- Suggest you check out Wilcap.com- get one brand new. note also that the Cad and Olds flywheels from 49 to 52 have the same part number-3508082, which can expand your sources. There are far more Olds flywheels out there than Caddy. Your current flywheel is NOT one of them.
