I think he is just pointing out a process that could be used by restorers.
I used to do brush plating on submarines. There is nothing hard about it except getting the chemicals. They are expensive and considered hazardous. .

I've always wondered if it was worth the plunge. Anyone have any good examples of appropriate uses for this in a typical restoration?

Brush plating would be good for repairing pitted chrome trim. You would plate and sand the pitted area until the pits are filed, then maybe top off with nickel before chrome plating. I’m not sure it would be good anywhere else on a car. We were repairing pits in O ring sealing surfaces on hull fittings with this process.

Has anyone used this shop kit? Ive seem it referenced many many times on other club blogs and on several cable tv restoration shows. Great reviews for doing bolts and brackets amd such. Its not real cad as that is toxic but the look is so very close. Takes about 10 mins per batch and can be silver or gold cad. Anyone use it??? Advice or tricks on getting good results? Thanks

For small parts, this would work well. Like headlight rings, for example, or emblems, bezels, dash knobs, any small trim pieces. Good for pit repair too, as Glen mentioned.

Jeff Wilk started this thread yesterday with the current thread heading. Jeff Maltby created a new thread with a different heading to which most of the responses were posted. When I merged the two threads I had the software give the thread the heading initially used by Jeff Wilk. In the process, Jeff Wilk's initial post was moved to the post immediately after Glen Houlton's.
