Wondering what techniques you have used to stop the oil bath air cleaner housing from rotating/moving on the carburetor air horn?

Do you have the air horn gasket under the air cleaner?

John Washburn CLC 1067 Sadly deceased.

Dave,

This is an interesting question. On my 1953 CDV, when I changed to the paper air filter, it kept moving. On my 56 CDV, with the same modification, no problem.

I changed air filter parts on the 1953, changed the carburetor from a Carter to a Rochester and it still rotates.

Finally, put some a nut and washers under the top of the air cleaner cover and then tighten it down and it seems to be behaving. Not sure what is going on, but the top is flexible if there is no original oil bath/muffler underneath it.

Why not put a length of steel or copper tubing inside the air cleaner around the tie down rod to support the cover from compressing and working loose?
