Planning to put an Edelbrock squarebore on my 429 manifold. Their specialist assures me that a #2696 spacer plate is a proper fit. See attached picture. My worry is the heat channel in the manifold  is not properly covered by it. Can anyone confirm that this is an ok configuration before I am having it shipped to the Netherlands?

Thanks, Tom

It looks like the primaries are smaller than the secondaries, that indicates a Quadrajet, or it is upside down, hard to tell in that pic.  Can't  leave the manifold heat passages open,  maybe a stainless shim is available to block them.

Indeed, the passages is what worries me. Have half a dozen useless gaskets, heat shields and spacers, but the heat duct is conveniently ignored..only a metal heat shield is  not enough...Help desk at Edelbrock is adamant...this what I need,.....ignorance is a blessing....for small kids...

So they are saying this will cover the passages? You would still need  gaskets  and a heat resistant shim.

A 67 should have a QJ and that would be correct for that carb. You are right about that not covering the heat riser passages on the manifold, but if you use the correct 1967 SS shim you should be okay.
Fwiw a well built 1967 Cadillac QJ would be a much better fit than a carb that I spite of what they say experience among users say a whole bunch of re jetting and idle mods seem to be needed to make the E work

Agreed.  You may be fussing with that carb trying to make everything work right for quite some time.  The Q-Jet carburetor, the intake, the linkages, all were engineered specifically for that engine.  You have now become an automotive test engineer.

Amen on Greg's  and 35-709's posts.

The exhaust ports can be blocked at the intake manifold gaskets, olsens gaskets offers them?

I buy sheet hobby stainless and insert my own block.

Blocking the exhaust from the carburation reduces Significant annoyances of Alcohol blended fuels.

And also makes for a VERY cold blooded 429
