I think I posted looking for this a year or two ago and ended up getting a makeshift lower insulator. Now I need the upper that is pictured in the link below. It is the insulator that requires the contact to be unsoldered, etc.

Mods, can you please add "Willchris21" to the scam/ban list?

Dan,
Hi. You can easily make this from a plastic CATV bushing that they use to pass the CATV wire thru an outside wall with. You just trim it down the mushroom head and the length to match the original and it fits perfectly. Big box stores have a 2PK for under $2.00. I posted something regarding this years ago.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I knew about the electrical part to fix the lower contact issue but not a CATV bushing for the top. I'll pull it apart this weekend and head to the store with some measurements.

Dan, I have a 53 cadillac. my horns don't have any parts like that pictured. are you sure they are for all cars 46-59?Dave

This piece is not part of the actual horn itself. Rather, it is an insulator that drops into the top of the inner steering shaft and insulates the horn wire contact from the shaft. Without it, the horn wire would touch the steering shaft and the horn would sound at all times. Only way to see it is to take the horn ring off and it is in the center of the shaft, under the horn contact. Kind of hard to describe without photos.

I had the terminal and insulator scanned and made for my car.  I could have more made if needed.
