I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Steve Stewart and the staff of the Self Starter for having the courage to depart from the "normal" format of the Self Starter and publish my little exploration into making a "Barn Door" fly.
Like many of us who enjoy doing the unusual I enjoyed this little venture into the unknown world of "Big Block" Cadillac high performance and I hope some of you did too.

I still haven't rec'd the SS for this month, nor my Hemmings...…

I'll wait a few more days then make some phone calls.

I am however, still receiving all my bills.   >:(

Looking forward to reading the article!

Hi Greg,

Thanks very much for your article! I cant wait for the next part. You obviously know what you are doing and those times are very impressive - high twelves for a 5000 lb car! How do you think you will get it to hook up?

Cheers,

When the weather cools off here I'm pulling the motor to "freshen it up".  Then I will try and either learn how t drive a little bit better.  If that does not do it the next step will be tires.  I am currently running street legal Mickey Thompson 2.75 x 60 "Street radials",  If I go to an actual "race onluy" tire it is going to make the trips (with a 20 mile drive) much more work.

Greg,

Really enjoyed reading your article.  It offers the all out version of making your Cadillac go.  There are many fun modifications you made that could be incorporated in some form or another to make any Cadillac more fun to drive.

Thank you.

I didn't see the article, however you should have no problems hooking on MT et street radials.  Pretty much amazing tires as far as that goes.

Disagree, unless you are sub 1.3 60ft.

Not trying to criticize, just saying the tires are very capable.

Then I guess I just need to learn how to drive.

That is a pretty complete "How To" a 500.  And some "How Not To".
For my low performers, I just go to a couple of straight country roads
among the corn fields, no houses for several miles.  A VC2000 gives
me the instrumented results.  Bruce Roe

Bruce,
It is a lot more fun with the water box, the Christmas tree, a couple of starters and not having to worry about a deer jumping out of the corn field.  Plus, getting time slips that show times and speeds for several parts of the quarter mile give me something to work with regarding what needs to happen to improve.
