May need a fuel tank for my '69 Sedan DeVille and am curious which RWD years (if any) other than '69 will fit/work? I assume tanks from '70 RWD models will but what about prior and later years? Or other full-size GM products?

I don't have any specific knowledge but to me it looks like GM in general GM tended to use pretty similar tanks in many models so if you know the dimensions have a look at a place like Tanks Inc and see if they have something close.

What did seem to vary was the filler neck which makes sense because that would be the subtle difference between models or brands.  Aftermarket seems to just put a nipple on the tank so the neck can be adjusted with hoses.   I have something like a 67 Biscayne tank in my 73 Eldo.  Took very slight mods to the strap mounting holes and an elbow hose and slight trim on the neck.

One thing that also explains different part numbers between tanks especially in the 67-72ish range is they seemed to be trying a lot of different arrangements for the venting and emissions.  Before that I think the caps were vented so other than was or wasn't there a return line nothing crazy.   Later they seemed to settle on the vent and return line being part of the sending unit which I think is still the way its done today.

In that weird era I think year to year there were differences.  I think one year there were extra fittings in a couple places on the tank that had hoses and valves that connected to the line up to the front of the car.  Some years the tanks had a dip in em some a hump.  They seemed to be testing every idea till they found something that worked.

Thanks TJ for the idea of using a near-sized tank and JagBuxx for the info.

Mine is a non-CA car, however, years ago with a similar situation on another car, I just capped off any extra fittings and used the supply and return lines only. Hoping to do the same if I find a correct or close sized tank.
