My car has a bit of water getting in, and at first I assumed it was the top. However, after checking that and tightening it down (it was part of the issue), I'm still getting water that appears to be dripping under the trim against the windshield. First thought is to put some clear silicone sealer up in there, as well as on top where the chrome trim meets.

After investigating, it appears there might be some kind of gasket under the trim (see picture). Does anyone know if there is a piece of something up in there, and if so, what it is called?

Thank you!

These windshields are adhered to the frame.  That's adhesive.

Makes sense- thanks! Trying some silicone seal and will see what happens!

G'day Ben,

Whatever you do, do not put any old/new Silicone around the screen.

Take the car to a Windscreen specialist, and have them remove and replace the glass with the correct sealant.

When I purchased my own '72 Eldo Convertible, I was chasing a leak at the top of the screen, and tried everything, from tightening down the header bow, to applying race tape to the leading edge as a temporary measure until I got the car home.   The taping wasn't a pretty sight, but driving through heavy rain, Bronwyn had to hold towels on the dash board to collect the mess.

Turned out that the screen had lost its seal, and the water was coming in, under the chrome trim, up and over the top of the glass, and down through the gap.

Plus, when the screen was removed, there was rust in the frame, which wasn't good, so had to be fixed first.

Looked like the car had suffered from the screen leak for most of its' life.   The previous owner/s probably just put up with it, or didn't drive in the rain.   The rust came from somewhere.
