There have been several post about what fluid to use in the various GM transmissions used in Cadillac and GM transmissions.  Weber State has a very good video on youtube.  It covers fluids used since the 30's until today. What was orginally used and what is backward compatible. It's long but very informative.  You must use the correct fluid for your application or you can have problems with shifting and early failures if you put in the wrong fluid.

Here is the link if you want to spend over and hour to learn about GM fluids and useage.

Buyer be ware!  All Dexron III fluids are not backward compatible.  Dexron III type H is for trans built after 2003.  Dexron III type K is not for use in automatic transmission.  It is for special P/S and manual transmission applications.  Read the labels carefully to make sure the Dexron III you are purchasing is backward to your transmission's original OE specs.

There is a video on youtube done by a gentleman from Weber State University on the various fluids used in GM automatic transmission from the 30"s until today.  Why the changes and the compatibility.
