Does anyone know or have a parts book for the spacer between the carb and manifold.  My question is re: a 36 V-8, does the spacer keep the two venturis separate or is it opened in between the venturis.  I have one that is opened about 3/8 of inch between the two openings or barrels and one that is closed between the two openings or barrels.  On the 36 intake manifold, one barrel goes to 4 cylinders and the other to the remaining cylinders.  There is no gas mixing area in the manifold for the two barrels.  It is completely separate.  Should the spacer be separate also. Ive been told that the opening between the barrels on the spacer helps equalize the gas intake.  That doesnt sound quite right.  Is it listed in a parts book with pictures?  HELP.

Dear Frank,

Dont have a definitive answer but hope this is of some help.

From 1952 Cadillac Master parts book
According to a chart at the Begining of GROUP 12 Fuel-Carbs

The Original Carburetor on 1936 Series 60,70,75 and also on
1937 Series 50 (LaS) and 1937 Series 60,65,70,75 models
was a Stromberg Model A18202, with a stamped code of 205-7

other cars thru 1948 ORIGINALLY used similar Stromberg models with stamp #s of 205- 1,2,3,5,8,9A,10A,14A,14B .

All these previous Carburetors could be replaced with a later
Model Carb Model 380154, or 380871 Stamped 205-14B

The Parts book warns  Be sure to identify correct model # carb
and order parts accordingly.

(NOTE:  Im not sure if the Stamp No. was actually
the one stamped on to the body of the carb or stamped into a frequently lost tin tag placed uned the head of a bowl screw.)

The 1942 & 52 Parts books I have has an exploded view of the
Stromberg carb but unfortunately NO pictures of the ...

GROUP 12.0532 GASKET, CARBURETOR TO MANIFOLD

Part # 141 1095  2pcs used on 1936-60,70,75; 1937 all
                 also 1938-60,60S,65,75; 1939-60S,61,75;
                 also 1940-60S,62,72,75; 1941-48 all

or
GROUP 12.0534 INSULATOR, CARBURETOR TO MANIFOLD

Part # 141 1096  1 pc used on  1936-60,70,75 and 1937 ALL

Part # 142 5952  1 pc used on  1938-1948 models as listed above
                               (that is all V-8 Models)

A  more recent 1999 FEL-PRO Gasket Catalogue

lists a carburetor mounting gasket for
1937-1948 Cadillac V-8  331,346 Cu In
as Fel-Pro part  # 9093 (future # 13-1048)
with a note 1-3 pcs used

(Perhaps one on each side of insulator ?)

Check with your Local Wholesale Parts stores
Napa CarQuest Etc   and see if they can show
you their Silohuette book  wich shows the shape
of these base gaskets.

Or just go ahead and order a few for spares
while still available (and photocopy it for future ref. !)

Perhaps the 1938 and later models had the connected
ones.... the Felpro listing would suggest that their
one type can be used for both style used these years.

BTW  the Fel-Pro   Full Engine set for 1937-1948
is listed as Part No.    FS  7248 S-2

the only other individual gasket available is
Fuel pump Mounting  Part # 6579 (future # 13-5026)

Sorry I cant be more specific.

Perhaps the parts Stores can Interchange the
OEM # s for the insulators.
