Ken

I am looking for a gas tank for out 38 LaSalle Series 50

Is there any other years that will fit?
Will a tank from a Caddy fit?

Does anyone sell them new?

Thanks, Ken

Ken,

Whats wrong with your old one? I may know a fix for it.

Previous owner filberglassed the outside bottom of the tank and it still leaked. It was full of holes. We also pulled the fillup tube off the tank to get it off the car. I have been quoted 200-300 to fix.

I am just looking on ebay for tanks in better condition and was wondering if tanks from other cars will fit. Sometimes you can get great deals.

Thanks, Ken

Ken,

My car had been sitting on the gas tank for ???? years and was rotten out. I got quoted $800 for a new one made up. When I pulled the old tank out I noticed the top half was the same pressing as the bottom half and the top half was never seen once it was in the car, so.......

I had a new top made up out of flat sheet at the local 4 x 4 shop for $80 and you will never know the difference. From under the car it looks like the original tank.

Hope this helps,

Seems like you could combine two bad tanks with this problem to make one complete good one.

Dear Ken,

according to my 42 and 52 Cadillac Master Parts Manuals

Group # 12.3250    Fuel Tank, Less Float Unit

Part #  350 3325  FITS THE FOLLOWING CARS

1937 LaSalle Series 50
1937 Cadiilac Series 60
1938 LaSalle Series 50
1937 Cadiilac Series 60 & Series 65 Comm Chassis (160wb)

Oddly my 16th edition Hollander Interchange has no listings for Gas Tanks,
but I believe some smaller Buicks and Oldsmobiles shared the same basic body.
Perhaps the tanks would interchange from a similar body style ?

As another option you might find a GAS TANK RENEW
franchise in your area. We had a 57 Eldo tank done at the
one in Albany NY and they did a beautiful job
repairing it, coating inside and out with lifetime guarentee
for about $350

Ken, you may have to send your tank somewhere and have it re-newew,re-built.
I think the name of the service is: tank re-nue.
There may be a web site for the company.
Good Luck, Jim

Ken, the name of the company is :gas tank RE-NU.
And, they do have a web site that shows where some of their dealers are located.(maybe one near you).

My local radiator shop repairs gas tanks and makes customs. Might be worth a few phone calls. He makes customs for Go-karts and hot rods. (Greensboro, N. C.)

Ken

Thanks guys for all the help.
