Pulling Wire Through a Harness --1968 CDV

It appears I have a bad wire from the ragtop switch back to the top motor. Ive eliminated everything and isolated the problem to the purple wire leading back through the harness to the motor.

Heres my question; I want to do the job right, is there a way to pull a new wire through the harness (which is original, sheathed in plastic and under the carpet and floor ticking, etc.), or do I run it as best I can next to or nearby the wire harness?

Ive got a 68 CDV that I am prepping for sale and would like to have the freakin top working!

From my years dealing with wiring Ive found that 90percent of the problem tends to be within six inches of any connection.  A TDR would be very usefull in this case.

Tim, You may be better-off just to run a new wire alongside of the existing harness and tape it to the harness useing black- plastic electrian tape. And cut off the old wire  back under the old harness wraping.
If you elect to pull a new wire through the oem harness, be fore warned, it will not be easy.
If you try to pull a new wire, splice the new wire onto the old one and make the connection small and dust the new wire with baby-powder to make it go thrrough the old harness better.
If you can rig up something to make the powder go in as you are pulling, so much the better. You may have to remove the harness, as anything you do you will be better able to do it when the harness is stright.

Get a wiring continuity tester. connect one end to the wire at the motor. and probe the cable from the power end, the break may be near either end. That way you can splice a piece in.
