I am in the process of converting my Is 1953 331 Distributor to a patronixs unit. I have read a lot of fourms stating that you need to swap over the rotor to a non resistor style or they will burn up because of the pertronix swap. I cannot find a rotor part number that will work with my distributor.  if anybody has a part number I would greatly appreciate it

I purchased one for my '49 from RockAuto, Standard brand, DR306.

You can buy the cap from them as well.

Good Luck!

Be certain to carry the old points & condenser in the glove box just in case.
You will eventually need them.

Keep in mind that the same rotor was used from 1938 to 1950, but beginning in '51, and including '53, the rotor is different.

Brendan:

The DR306 is not a resistor type.  Attached is an example of the resistor type (left side) for a '49 next to the non-resistor type (right side).

Note: as mentioned earlier the rotors shown for a '49 are not correct for your '53.

I hope that helps.

Good luck!
