Can anyone help me find some information please?  I want to find out exactly how many fleetwood 75 limousines were actually made in model year 1986.    I can find the #397 for the years 85 - 87 but I just wanted to find out specifically how many were made in 86.  Thanks

Production information seems to be sketchy on Series 75 from 1985 to 1987. Two printed sources I have list production for the 1986 model at 1,000 units but neither provides a breakdown for Limousine and Formal Limousine. For 1985, production is shown as 396 in one source and 405 in the other and for 1987, one claims 1,000 (estimated) while none is given in the other.

It should be noted that coachwork construction for this generation factory limousine was subcontracted out to Hess & Eisenhart rather than built in-house as was done for the large RWD models until April 1st 1984.

I believe that Eric is right about out-sourcing the limousines and stretch limousines around that time.  Lincoln Town Cars were taking over for Cadillac about that time as they were easily stretched for livery vehicles.
There should be factory records somewhere if they built Fleetwood Broughams and had them stretched or were still building factory limousines.  Good luck with the research.

The last so-called "factory" RWD limousines were offered in 1984 but a variety of coach builders continued to convert them well after that with many being sold through authorized Cadillac dealerships.

The 1985-87 "factory" FWD Fleetwood limousines were actually shorter in length than the standard Fleetwood Brougham/Brougham sedan.  They were the limousine you could park in your garage!  :)

They were shorter than a 1977-1984 Coupe deVille!

The 1987 & 1988 Sixty Special with 4" extended wheelbase were also subcontracted out to H & E. The 1984/1985 Eldorado Biarritz convertible was done by ASC.

Unlike aftermarket conversions, these cars and the 1985-1987 Series 75 were built to GM quality standards and were assigned model specific body style numbers contained in the VIN. Therefore these should still be considered official factory cars. They also carried the normal factory warranty while conversions performed by outside coachbuilders had the factory warranty voided which now rested solely upon the coachbuilder.

Yes.  I was just comparing against what was being sold at the time (1985 to 1987) e.g., the 1987 Fleetwood 75 Limousine was 220" in length while the 1987 Brougham was 221" in length.

In 1985/1986 the Series 75 was even shorter at 218.6" 1987 got longer end caps.

I've heard the factory Series 75 remained available on special request for a time after 1987 but only a handful were built.
