I like your idea of using a removable mount for your fire extinguisher.  That way you haven't modified the car, yet still have it easily accessible in case it's needed.
I keep an extinguisher in all of my vehicles, and have even mounted one up under the dash. It was the only place I could hide it and still have it easy to reach, that was on a 64 Chevelle.
 Your idea is much better.

The only trouble is that if it is on the passenger side, and the seat back falls forward in a bingle, then the unit could act as a dangerous flying object within the cabin.

Thanks for showing it.

Man the English language can be so different from one continent to another. I had to look up a "bingle" to understand what you were talking about. I've never heard that term before.
Learned a new word today. Gotta try it out now on my wife and see if she gets it.

Great idea to have it removable; since the good ones aren't cheap, I'm always concerned about someone swiping mine at a large show.

I had a small electrical fire on a 66 unrestored GTO but fortunately I had a fire extinguisher. But I did not have a fire extinguisher in the rest of my cars so I have since added them using the same seat mount as I did in the Cadillac.
Thanks

How did you bend the metal for your mount? It looks like a professional job.

G'day Rick,

If you look closely, the mount is in two parts.   A length of Channel, and a flat piece.

The one for the Cadillac I bent in a break, and the one on the blue seat is for a 72 Trans Am that I welded.
Thanks

How thick is the aluminum that you used? It looks like it's at least 1/8" thick, or even 3/16", but hard to tell in the pictures.

1/8"

I should have looked closer.

The piece that I thought was attached to the channel piece is actually the vinyl piece stuck to the bracket to protect the upholstery.

I have chastised myself severely.

Did few spray outs to find the best match for the original factory applied dark blue engine paint. Below are pictures showing the 5 brand I used. IMO Bill Hirsch was the clear winner.
Thanks
