One other point that I'm wondering about is-  to what extent if any does the CLC underwrite insurance for local club's or local chapter's events?

I thought I'd heard  somewhere that if a member has an accident at a chapter event the CLC has a policy that will make the member whole.
This only tangentially addresses the point the author brought up  but maybe it is a point worth clarifying (or not?) It may arise at the local level.

The CLC's master liability insurance policy through J.C. Taylor has a $5 million limit. It covers CLC members at National events, and it covers Regional members who are also National members at Region events. However, If a person belongs to a Region but is not a CLC member, they are not covered by this policy. That's why the CLC conducts an audit each fall of every Region to make sure all Region members belong to the CLC so they are all covered.

Ken, you kind of lucked out. We have two very active Region/National members in LaPorte. Dr. Lars Kneller has a large collection of cars and Bill Hedge (The lawyer in the Painted Lady on Indiana Ave.  with the sign out front.) Bill doesn't have quite as many as Lars, but they will be happy to know of another Cadillac person in town. We are having the 1942 Series 75 partially restored at Dorman's shop that will end up in our Cadillac Museum near Kalamazoo, MI.

I am about 75 miles south of you in Flora, IN.

I tried like hell fire to join a few days ago.  It would NOT accept the password I chose even though I followed the instructions to the letter.  UGH  It is done now.  All set

I met up with Lars at the Fall Festival at the Gilmore Museum last year and one of his daughters is actually a friend of my step daughter.  LOL.  As for the Painted Lady, I'd have to look into that.  Thanks!
