Title: 75 eldorado engine colors?
Post by: Doug Spingelt on May 04, 2009, 05:01:03 PM
I am cleaning up the engine compartment one piece at a time... either by replacing parts, or cleaning them and painting them.  I painted the valve cover gaskets GM blue, which is what they were...  but rusty.  I am sure this isn't correct for original spec.  any ideas what would have been original colors under there?

One air cleaner part has a nice deep grey/blue.  could that be it?

Thank you as always for your help...

The valve covers should be a dark Cadillac blue. It is available from Eastwood and maybe PepBoys. The air cleaner assembly should be black. Herb #21704

My 75 is weathered but appears original and the valve covers are dark blue.  Air cleaner is black.  It sort of looked like maybe some of the stuff on the front of the engine may have been a lighter blue but there is not much of it left.

The valve covers were the same color as the rest of the engine and the air cleaner black.
