Title: broken exterior door handles on newer GM models
Post by: Jim Skelly, CLC #15958 on September 08, 2010, 11:39:19 PM
I was seriously considering the purchase of a Buick Lucerne until I read on the Internet that there has been an issue with the handles breaking off.  Apparently some plastic parts are being used to retain the handle assembly.  The same problem evidently occurs on the 2006-2009 Buick Lacrosse.  The GMC Denali was also mentioned.  Has anyone had this happen on one of their GM cars or trucks?  What year and model was affected?  It looks like GM hasn't issued a recall.  It's amazing that they would be so cheap and dumb to use plastic on such a high-stress component.

My brother's Buick Lucurne had it's handle break off too. It was replaced of course for free.

Don't worry, soon you will be able to buy replacement door handles for inside and outside at any Autozone or Advanced
part stores, because there will be such a demand with the failure ofpoor quality GM built parts used from the factory. You will get a chance to use even worse made crap from "over yonder" that doesn't fit but will last until you can trade for a Subaru. Art Woody
