Post by: Alfons De Schepper,CLC#25475 on November 15, 2011, 01:16:11 PM
Hello,

I have here a 1980 Seville with a 6.0 liter engine and the eprom of the ecm is faulty. My question is where can I find a new eprom for the ecm of this car.
They checked the ecm and he is OK.
Thanks for your answers and suggestion's

I have a PROM/EPROM burner. If you can find the .bin for your car and figure out how to use it, I'd be happy to burn a chip for you. It's a Pro-Logic M980, and if there's a way to get any modern computer to communicate with it I'd burn you as many chips as you want! Otherwise, a salvage yard would be your best bet. A place like McVey's might have what you need.

The PROM chip is a removable chip a d typically has to be transferred to the new ECM.
it has parameters on the chip for your particular car.  Digital dash vs standard, etc.

I didn't know the 1980 Seville had eprom issues.  Attached are the 1980 electronic electronic fuel injection parts illustration and gm part numbers.  From what I can see only one ECM, GM part number 1224539 is needed for the L61/368-9 engine.  It's currently available on http://nospartsdepot.com/ for only $122.54.  I attached a copy of webpage.  It appears to be an true "NOS" part.
