Title: Help with 1976 Eldorado windows?
Post by: Eldorado Tex on January 24, 2013, 07:54:13 PM
I've got some issues needing attention on my 1976 Eldorado convertible. The driver's side windows are not working, so I'd like to know what all I should look at and how to go about it. I'm hoping cleaning the switches will do the trick. Also say the switch or motor is bad, what other years/makes could I get those from? The back passenger window has fallen off the track, so what will I need and how will I go about it to get it back on the track? Also the front passenger window can be a bit slow, so is there anything that can be done to help that?

I was just looking at a thread on the Technical / Authenticity forum about replacing a power window on a '68 DeVille. I am not sure how similar the '68 is to your '76 Eldo, but you may find some good overall info on the topic. Here is a link to the thread: http://forums.cadillaclasalleclub.org/index.php?topic=122984.0

Tex, As far as interchange all 71-76 GM B-body convertibles have the same windows and window 'guts'.If you don't have a shop manual I would say to buy one,I am sure that would give you troubleshooting details.I have 1 front and 1 rear regulator with good motors I just don't remember what side they are for. I will find them tomorrow and let you know in case you need them. Good luck, Bill    W.Smith # 10344

Tex, I checked my 1976 Fisher body manual today and that seems to be the book you need. It gives troubleshooting steps if the windows don't work.I have a good working drivers door window motor/regulator and a good working passenger side rear quarter window motor/regulator if you need them. $50 each plus shipping....Good Luck, Bill   W.Smith CLC # 10344  e-mail acarcollectoremail addresses not permitted

What will I need as far keeping the window on the track? What other cars will have that similar part(s)?

It would probably help a great deal to have the Fisher Body Manual....there's a wealth of info on how to repair your '76 Eldorado in there.....Here's one for $20...
