I am interested in the June Wilkinson pic purely from the historical perspective on how dagmars evolved.
Betty Grable was described as having the best legs in Hollywood . . . and the sweetest 41 conv.

I noted that the 1941 at the top has had the red'black backgrounds worn away on the fog lamp covers and hood crest. I couldn't pick out the date on the license plate though.

Quentin,  That is indeed me.  I used my photoshop time machine to go back to the grand opening of Darby Everest in 1955 and window shop.

The shot with the big V16 and the model car is actually in the UK. Anyone notice the English registration plates?

It was removed because it was not Cadillac or LaSalle related, and not even any Cadillac or LaSalle, or part of one in the picture.

Hello Bill

Perhaps we can talk Bruce into crafting a picture with June sitting in a LaSalle?

G'day Bill and those many others, including me, who no doubt, were shocked to discover their "one true love" . . . the one and only, the delightful, the incredible . . . Miss JUNE WILKINSON missing  from this post.
The good news is that I have saved that offensive pic and can send it via personal email to anyone who requests it.
Of course as Bruce has eloquently pointed out June has absolutely NOTHING to do with Cadillacs. . . .and for C.R nothing to do with LaSalles.
Please don't be disappointed when you discover this fact . No returns, no warranties, guarantees or claims given or implied or honoured.
Henceforth, I have no desire to post any more images Cadillac or non Cadillac images for fear of upsetting sensitive individuals given my apparent lack of taste and judgement and moral fibre and unreservedly apologise for any hurt/loss/injury that this image may have created .  :'(

Guys, it was "probably" the DeSoto image that offended...  I think there is a listing complete with part # for the lady's bra in a Master Parts Book. I think it fit a 1957 Cadillac perfectly.

Q., I am intrigued by that 1934-37 V16 Town Car with the French tourist tags (marked "TT") sitting behind the pedal car with the British tags.  Could it be the car once owned by Marlene Dietrich that she brought to England in 1935 ... and left there just before the Nazis started making noises in Germany? The position of the badges on the RH side of the grille seem to match those I have seen on another photo of the Dietrich (car with her chauffeur beside it)
. Only 4 of these town cars were built on the V16 chassis in 1934 and Marlene's probably was the only one of these four without sidemounts. Do you happen to know the origin of the photo?

Happy New Year !

Q,

Send me the unqualified photo, please.

The zenith of the dagmar was the 57/58 Brougham, this is purely research.

Thanks

Quentin, Please don't be discouraged. The photos you posted are really great and I for one appreciate seeing them. If you or anyone else runs across a photo of Betty Grable and a '41 Cadillac 67 Series limo please post or let me know. The '41 67 Series I have was supposed to have been owned by her when it was new. I have been trying to find documentation or a picture but no luck so far. The car was delivered through Don Lee in Hollywood and the story has been told from an owner in 1956. If the car was owned by her, great, if not it's still a cool car.     Harry

Thanks Harry, I will reconsider my churlish ways thanks to your encouragement. . . hehe. Great if your 41 was owned by Bette Grable. I will see what we can find.

G'day Yann, ol' mate. Hope you are well. Pic of V16 is supposedly showing child actor Sabu. Car must be later than 34 or it's had biplane bumpers replaced.     http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabu_Dastagir I have found a great new tool on Google for photos right click on mouse and use "Search Google for photo" option. Doesn't tell you much more about the pic but you can probably make inferences from his bio.

Dave, . . I looked again at the June Wilkinson pic and you know what bedamned. It isn't really offensive at all ( if it is turn you head sideways and look away) and it damn well IS Cadillac related. Anyone who understands that "Form follows function" will also understand that "Fashion follows form, follows function." That June's quirky attire is directly related to the period 1958, when this pic was taken, is patently obvious. It is "fashion of the times". No different to all the many products that associated themselves via the Cadillac crest or V . So I make no apologies this time for reposting the pic.

Might be form and function, but not Cadillac or LaSalle related, and therefore the picture was again removed.  Bruce Reynolds, Administrator.

Bruce , Happy New Year Mate !!!!. Are we really gonna end up having a fight about this??? Back off , put the photo back up and let the individuals who are interested in following this thread decide if they are mature enough or not to look at it. Maybe if there are any other individuals who see the image inappropriate, they surely have the right to voice their concerns via the freedom of this forum. Take away that freedom and I for one will go to another forum to enjoy and share these pics.

Anyone know where Ike is visiting in this pic?  I know the King of Malaysia had a 57 Biarritzs and also the Consul General had a black one. It is here in OZ now painted silver. I remember being accosted  by some Malaysian gentlemen in Sydney in my black Biarritz twenty years ago. They told me they knew where the King's Biarritz was in Kuala Lumpa being used as a chook shed  by an Indian man.

Snap Harry, mine 37 too was delivered to Don Lees in Hollywood. I would dearly love to know who the first owner was but alas with your country's registration system I think thats a pipe dream.  Perhaps they were bought by the same family? ;D

Quentin, thanks for the link and the posted pictures. Please, don't be discouraged.

Yann, that picture was done in 1937 in London as a promotional for the film "Elephant Boy" with the main star Sabu inside the pedal car. The one in the background was Marlene Dietrich's car indeed.
As soon as I saw that photo I recognized Sabu as he was a movie idol of my childhood with movies  such as..."The Thief of Bagdad", "Jungle Book", "Arabian Nights" and others

Gday folks. Thanks for the moral support. (Or perhaps it is immoral support? )
Sometimes you gotta take it on the chin, get back up and stick out your chest. Just not quite as far as June Wilkinson's chest apparently haha. I have a heap more pics that I will keep feeding thru. That is when the kids will let me have some quality "dad time" on the computer. Happy New Year guys.

Last night, I watched a Bob Cummings/Deanna Durbin movie "It started with Eve," and they may have borrowed that car for the movie. At least it was a 1941 67. The one I wanted to see more of was the car used for the Bishop. It only was on screen through some doors for about ten seconds but it both looked interesting and one I couldn't identify that quickly. Yann, here is another '41 to add to your list on the data base.

Thanks for the confirmation. Somewhere in my archives is a newsreel clip from 1935 (?) that shows Marlene's car when it was in England and she was being entertained by actor David Niven. If anyone finds that clip, do let me know.

BTW, Marlene's town car car is a 1934 model (one of 4 built), featuring the updated, single-bar bumpers used from 1935 to 1937.

The 1959 bubble-top limousine was built for the royal (British) visit to Canada that year. It has survived and is currently undergoing a full restoration at a location I am not at liberty to disclose.

The 1957 bubble-top Seville was also made for a similar royal visit to Canada (photos of finished car attached).  It is not known to have survived ... but keep looking!

Couple of Burton and his '56. Once, while filming a movie, Burton requested a Cadillac for their transportation. A Not Happy Elizabeth shot back at him with, " A CADILLAC ?? Every bar tender in New Jersey drives a Cadillac ! " Gotta love her !!!

G'day Barry,
Those are fabulous family snapshots.  Wonderful memories no doubt. I do remember you posting a few of these previously but this time some new ones that I had not seen.
Just looking at your pics makes me sing Paul Simon's "Kodachrome". Me singing makes the kids yell "DAD STOP!"
Those gleaming all red interiors are just incredible. I am slowly restoring a 53 Eldo with a red and white int and a 57 Biarritz with an all red int. Can't wait. Thanks for sharing. Q

My sister and I on the hood of Dad's 1973 limousine.  The 2nd shot is my sister with "Big Black," our 1960 limousine that was our family car until 1966. This car had the landau roof and the "S" bar on the C pillars.

Very nice family pictures. Always fun to look at. I have been trying to watch the movie "It started with Eve" as mentioned by Barry Wheeler to try and spot the 1941 67 Series. No luck with the few clips on the internet. I guess I will have to spring for the DVD or wait for TCM to air it.  Steve, in a lot of cases the star cars were actually owned by the movie companies. I tried to research my car through them but no luck. Most of the state registration records only go back a short time and even if they were older I'm sure with all of the privacy laws they would not be helpful. I did find out the second owner of my car was The Stanley Hotel in Colorado from the late 40s to 1956. They used it as a livery car for guests. It is always fun to keep looking.     Harry

On the other hand (and my wife just HATES it when I do this) I watched the British Mini-TV Series "Restless" last week and, with my irritation raised by the fact that Hayley Atwell as the young main star had brown eyes, by the time she grew up , as Charlotte Rampling they were those outstandingly unique grey/blue/hazel/green eyes and I then had to watch Hayley Atwell driving around in a 1946 Cadillac..... on the eve of Pearl Harbour!

Yann , The Bubble top Seville was actually a Biarritz. Also has modified bucket seats. A few months back here on the forum , the son of the Canadian gentleman who fabricated the  plexiglass top  was seeking info on the car.
