Title: Convertible Top Frame '60 Eldorado
Post by: Whit on July 28, 2015, 04:06:04 PM
Rebuilding the frame of the convertible top on my '60 Eldorado. The chrome plated sections need re-plating and the joints could use new bushings (they are nylon). I had to grind off the staked pins to get the assembly apart, now I can't find where to get new pins and bushings.
Does anyone out there know a source for these kind of parts? Is there a re-builder out there that might have some parts or might help out?

thanks   Whit

Whit,

Google Penn Dutch restorations in Glen Rock, pa.
He just did a 59 and probably knows.
Ask for Jeff or Devon and tell them I told you to call.

USA Parts sells them.  I bought a set of bushings and bolts for my 1970 Cadillac and it was just over $200.  I went on line and the place selling them has same prices as USA Parts.  It is from a shop in CA that makes them.  The 59 and 60 look like they are $299.  The kit they sent me was top rate, with detailed instructions brass bushings to replace the nylon ones, and super quality hardware.  I was a little worried because the directions show the frame off the car and in sections on the workbench.  Like a dummy I had just replaced my white convertible top.  However, I was able to do the job with top on and it took about four hours a side going slow and carefully.  After the top went up and down smoother and no rattles.
