I'm looking to convert my 1960 Cadillac to a dual master cylinder. I've seen several posts on this forum that recommend using a '68 remanufactured unit from A1 Cardone (part # 50-1117). The problem is this part is obsolete, nobody carries them anymore and Cardone has discontinued them. (I've scoured the internet, called all my local auto shops, and been on the phone with Cardone twice). Anyway, I'm wondering if I can use a setup from a 64-66 Cadillac (Cardone part # 50-1301). Anybody have any experience with this? Will 50-1301 fit in a similar fashion as 50-1117? Any insight is appreciated.

I feel your pain. I know just how hard it is to find that thing. I did the same thing on my dads 59' about 3 years ago. I would try one last place before you give up. I know about a year ago, summit racing parts was the only person that had that booster/ master combo. When I ordered the 50-111 for my 61' about 6 months ago, they sent me an email saying it was backorded for a long time, and then it just showed up at my house. So that's something to try. I'm not sure about your question though. If the dementions of the booster and pushrod are the same as the other cardone one, I think you would be OK. The only thing that might be an issue is the MC. Because of the diffrent year the brake line ports could be on the wrong side or it could have residual valves in it or something that is not desired. So I would do some measuring and comparing of the two units if you can get that information. This is a great swap to do. Its much safer and you'll never look back. It doesn't look that much unoriginal ether. Good luck!

I think the real work starts on page 3.
That set up looks like it is for disc brakes? rock auto sells this one for a 64 that A friend of mine bolted right in to a 59.

We are still using the original 4 wheel drum brakes with that unit. I think in 67' disk brakes were still optional and the portioning valve would have been externally mounted anyways.
Gavin and Jim,
Thanks for the info!
I did some more research today and here's what I found out....
Cardone 50-1301 should bolt right on, however the brake line ports are on the other side. Not sure if that matters since the brake lines need to be re-routed anyway.
According to Cardone tech support, Booster 54-81117 and Master 10-1363PM (not sure what the 'PM' signifies) is the equivalent of Booster/Master combo 50-1117.

Disk brakes use a lower residule pressure check valve in the master cyl. I think that the red plug is for the drum brakes and Blue plug is for disk. It will not matter as much if the disk valve is on a drum setup but a drum valve on a disk setup will drag on the rotor. Are 1960 ports on the left side my 61 is on the right.
Interesting.... I was not aware of that.
On my 60 MC the port is on the right if you're facing the firewall.
