Title: Congrats to Nadeem Kahn on the Self Starter article on his car.
Post by: 76eldo on August 27, 2016, 05:23:47 PM
Congrats to Nadeem Kahn on the fantastic article I the Self Starter about his 1961 Eldorado factory custom.

To get the front cover and a 10 page article is fantastic.

When he first came to the message board he had a lot of people telling him that his car wasn't a real deal factory custom or styling car but when I saw the parade boot and some of the special features and trim it was pretty obvious that it was not a back yard made-up car.

If you don't receive the Self Starter you should become a CLC MEMBER.

From the very beginning, there was very little doubt in my mind what that car was.

Excellent write up of one of the few Cadillac show cars in existence.

Congratulations again Nadeem. I hope to see that car someday.

That is a very cool car.  I really like the chrome that runs the length of the car under the lower fin and the rear wheel openings.  The interior is beyond great with the wood, center console with shifter (console mounted instead of on column).

Just read the article also.  I'm really hoping that you'll bring the car to next year's GN in DC, Nadeem.

I always thought that if a 1962 or 1961 Cadillac became part of my collection and it was not an original, either a high mileage restored car or very minor custom, that the area under the chrome strip highlighting the lower skeg fin from back of front wheel to rear pumper should be chrome or at least contrast.  This car proves it can look good.

I'm so pleased with the article, I just got my copy yesterday, need to order extras.

Thank you John Houlsby for going to bat for me and taking the brilliant photos as well as writing the article.

I'd love to bring the car to the Nationals but it's just not in the cards next year, I'm waiting for it to get closer to home and I'll bring her.

Thank you everyone for being as enthusiastic about this unique car as I am.

You are most welcome, sir 8)!

I am working hard to start a new South Florida Region of the CLC that will - at least initially - include Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties.  Our application for provisional regional status will be considered at the CLC's September meeting.  Maybe once our group is up and running, you'll bring your car to one of our events!

Anyway, your car is amazing, and thanks for letting me photograph it and write about it.  I'm glad more people have now had the chance to see your car and learn about its interesting history!

That would be great, I'll for sure come down there.

Thanks again John for everything, anytime you are in my area drop in.

I was also surprised that picture of Bill Mitchell with the car was not included in the SS article.

We didn't have that picture, and I've never seen it.  Where did get that photo?

I think that picture certainly would've been used if we'd had it!

It had been posted here before. I'll be damned if I know where it went.

No matter. It was an excellent article all the same.

Here is the 2015 thread containing the photo of Bill Mitchell and the car back in 1961:
