Title: 1980 Biarritz climate control
Post by: seok on July 13, 2019, 04:25:47 AM
Hi guys, I am in need of climate control programmer for my 89 Biarritz. I believe that is the name of it. It controls the blend door. I noticed mine was clicking and the door would stop moving. Pulled the unit, opened up the programmer and noticed one of the many gears on the motor had some teeth missing. I believe I need 80 and 81? Only. Anybody have one for sale or know where to get one? Any way to replace just the gear?

What about getting a gear 3D printed based on your damaged one?

Very common. Just take an electric motor from about any 1986-94 Cadillac and swap out the motor. You may have to recalibrate the programmer to match the motor, but not totally necessary. You will need to swap out the plastic lever on top, easy to do.
First you wil need to know where the full heat or full ac position is for the lever (find out from shop manual). Connect replacement motor with lever off and let it run to that full position. Then install the lever in the correct position. Be careful not to break programmer housing when installing lever. I use pliers under motor shaft and squeeze lever in place which puts no pressure on housing.

The 86 and up motors are built better.
