Title: part identification - please help
Post by: mark2002 on May 05, 2021, 05:14:05 PM
I have a box full of these brackets, I believe they are from our 1939 Cadillac convertible coupe. Would anyone know what they are for? I think they are interior roof or visor brackets. Thank you

I am by no means a 1939 expert, but the larger,  L-shaped piece looks like a sun visor bracket, also known as a "sunshade support". The smaller part looks like the retainer for the inboard part of the sun visor, at the center of the header above the windshield.

These are convertible only sun visor brackets.  They cover a number of models and years.  They are available repo but quite expensive.  Should sell easily either here or on eBay.

Thank you for the information. I have 9 of the L shape and 5 of the mounts. Is it 2 per car one for left and one for the right side?
What is the value of good original GM parts?
I would rather post them here being my Dad was an early CLC member. (very low number)

It takes 2 of each for each visor so a total of 4 brackets and 4 "L's" for a car.  The "L" is $60 each and $68 each for the brackets from "Chevs of the 40's".  Sometimes parts like this are shown in the catalog but not always available.  These are new with new chrome so you have to take that into account if yours need chrome.  Depending on condition and location for chrome work it could cost that much for new chrome on old ones.
