He's a member in Michigan. He said he was not available by phone. A red flag to me. He needed a small favor.
He didn't say what that was. I hit the scam button. Any one know Gary? He might not be aware of what's happening.
Bob
Anyone that contacts you and won't divulge any info on himself, hits the top of the questionable list to me.
I got that same email. It sounded weird. I know Gary and spoke to him on the phone a few of weeks ago. That is his email address but I would be afraid to hit reply. I will give him a call and see what happens. Harry
It's a known scam. They hack an email address and if you respond the "small favor" will be a request for money or gift cards.
...I just spoke to Gary and Brian is right it is a scam. They are asking for gift cards. Harry
Sounds like Garys' email address was hacked, and access gained to his address book.
Hopefully he can get it fixed.
Bruce. >:D
Bob I can make it easier for you.
Just send me some money instead. Haha
Bob, can't you just help a brother out??
;)
Good on you for spotting and reporting it.
Thanks Chris.
I got this from him also. I have gotten them before, the wording was exactly the same. Just another online scam. Easier for me to delete, as I had no idea who he was
Me too.
Blew it off as a scam.
Have fun,
Steve B.
A couple of months ago I received a couple of similar emails "supposedly" from a different CLC member that I used to know. It was enough to make me review his info in the CLC directory; as I wasn't even sure if he was still with us. Turns out he's not; it was some sort of scam and I blocked incoming future emails. Watch out for for emails that say "You are now friends with ... and you are pretty sure you've been Facebook "Friends" for some time now.
Barry,
Facebook - really - you ??
You rebel, trying to keep up with the grandkids.
Have fun,
Steve B.
