Title: Under-hood insulation
Post by: Craig Chally on February 05, 2006, 02:23:25 PM
Would anyone know where I can get a replacement for the underhood insulation pad for a 1977 DeVille?  Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Just happen to have that right here under the monitor. First Class parts has one exactly for the 1977-79 cars. I put one on my 79 and it looks great. They also have it for the 80 up cars.

USA Parts Supply (call (703) 335-1935 for a free catalog)offers the material for $38.34 (48 x 64 sheet). It must be trimmed to fit. Dont forget the clips ($1.09 ea), you will need about 15 unless you were careful when you removed the old ones. The most difficult part of this job is getting someone to help hold the material while you fasten it in place.

Dont get something you have to trim. Mine was a PERFECT fit. (And, I put everything in place except the middle one. However, Im only 5 6" tall...) Ill see what I can find. They dont advertise on eBay a lot. Ill check on my old messages. Repeat, this company has the exact fit without trimming.

Virtue has its own reward... Go to eBay 8034524424. That is an auction for an Eldorado pad. Hit, "ask seller a question." When the box comes up, ask them about YOUR year. They should repond right away with the part # or the 1977-79 pad. Its only about $26.00 plus postage. Nice people.

I am needing hood insul. for my 68 ELDO.  Previous post on apx. 2/5/06 indicate U S A parts have a 48" by 64" piece.  My ELDO size is 40" by 55"  The person on the phone said he only had the size for 71 on up, and it would not fit.??? I will call back and mabe get another sales person or is there another reason a 71 and up wont fit on a 68.  I expected to have to trim it to the same size as the old one.  Any information on this.  Thanks.

Barry,

I did as you said, and never got a reply.  Do you happen to have a phone number for them?

Thanks,
Craig
