I have a 1986 Sedan De Ville Limo built by Hess & Eisenhardt, would like to know how many were made etc. It is gold, six doors, jump seats, air front and back with only 30,000 miles.Very nice car I was told the engine might give me a problem . If you can help thanks STAN
The HT4100 was one of the most trouble-prone engines every put into an automobile, but if yours at 30,000 miles and 21 years is not knocking and can get out of its own way (they were never hot rods at 135 horsepower)youve apparently got a good one. Change the oil every 3,000 miles (preferably with synthetic), flush the cooling system annually, fill with distilled water and coolant/antifreeze mixture and add GM Coolant Supplement (still available at Cadillac dealers, I think).Watch the belt and hoses, change the thermostat regularly and if it ever overheats, turn it off immediately and coast to the side of the road as no aluminum block engine (and particularly this one)will not survive a major overheating episode.
