As a new member to the Cadillac LAsalle group you will have to forgive these questions.
My first is where do I find the rules for qualifying for entry into the 2008 Grand National
are there any Cadillac years that cannot be entered for show cars?
And where do I find Pages 48-55 in the Membership Directory so I know what I need to do
to my car to get it ready?

thanks for your time

Between Pages 47 and 56.

Sorry, but couldn't resist. ;D

But, seriously, I believe that any vehicle, that is older than 15 years is permitted on the Show Field.

You will enjoy the experience of everything about the GN.  Especially the friendship.

Thanks Bruce I guess I walked into that one.  My Cadillac is an 1988.  So I guess I qualify.  Just need to review the manual to see if my Caddy is show worthy.  Thanks to all who have responded.  Owning a Cadillac is a dream come true.

Look forward to meeting you all!

Trevor,

ANY Cadillac is welcome on the show field!  However, only Cadillacs older than 10 model years are eligible for conventional 1st, 2nd, 3rd place judging.

Since yours is a 1988, it is eligible for judging in either touring or primary division.  Senior division is only for those cars that have previously placed first in primary division.

You do not have to enter your car in touring division before entering in primary division.  The condition of your car should dictate to you which division to enter.

With regard to your reference to the Membership Directory, as a new member, you will soon receive your copy of this book.

If you have any more questions, please ask!

G'day Trevor,

Sorry about the mis-information on the Year of Acceptance thing, but I forgot that you Americans regard anything older than 10 years as an "Old Car" and anything older than 25 Years as a "Vintage Car".

Here, in the other part of the English Speaking world, a Vintage Car has to have been made before 1930.

PS.  The International Membership Directory is the best publication you will ever receive.   Even better than the Self Starter I think.

Jeff
Ok I am a complete novice when it comes to car shows.  I have always just spectated never showed.
So I am sure that when my Cadillac Lasalle Membership booklet comes it will explain. But maybe you could tell me what the
difference between Touring and Primary are.

Thanks

Trevor

Sure, Trevor, be glad to!

Quoting our Membership Directory (which you'll receive a copy of):

"The purpose of the Touring Division is to encourage members to drive and show their Cadillacs and LaSalles regardless of condition.  Special encouragement is given to bringing unrestored vehicles showing some wear, vehicles under restoration, or in need of further restoration."

"The Touring Division is intended to give recognition to those vehicles that are nice older originals, older restorations, and/or vehicles that are used for touring and are nice vehicles but not Concours winner-type vehicles.

Primary Division is where you will find most cars entered at a CLC event.  The cars run the gamut from fully restored show pieces to gently used originals to what have you.

The one catch with Touring Division is that if your car scores more than 92 points out of 100, you will be disqualified - your car is too nice and should have been entered in the Primary Division.  This requires you to do a self-evaluation of your car to decide where to place it.  See the attached scan of a portion of the Membership Directory, which should help you.

The one rule to keep in mind if you aren't sure is, "if you aren't sure, select Primary Division."

Hope this didn't confuse you too much!

Be sure to pre-register your car if you want to show it, even if you only want to enter it in the "Display Only" (not judged) area.  Check out the CLC Home page  http://www.cadillaclasalleclub.org/  look down at 2008 Events and click on  2008 Grand National if you haven't already.  There you will find more information as well as downloadable car and event registration forms.  Any other questions ask, Jeff H. or someone will help.  See you there.
