Fuel Line / Brake Line are they the same ?

Hello , I  have decided to replace my fuel line from the tank to the carb. Also moving my Auxerlary Electric pump closer to the tank . I do run on my Mechanical pump, but like to have an auxcerlery  electric pump just in case the Mechanical pump fails . I also like to use the Electic pump for start ups after sitting for awhile .  My Question is ... Can brake line also be used as fuel Line ? Are the fittings different ?   The original fitting that screws into my  gas tank looks the same as brake line fitting .   Any help is always appreacited.

These lines can be the same, but proper Brake Line is, or was, constructed via a process of rolling a wide, thin piece of metal twice around and sealed in a brazing process to form a strong, pliable tube that will withstand the high pressures involved with braking. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundy_tube

Fuel line doesn't need to withstand such pressure, and therefore is made differently.

But, yes, you can use either, so long as the diameters are the same as what you need.   The fittings and the joints are the same, and the process of double-flaring is the same.
