Hello fellow members,

I have decided to make the effort to start the process of getting a CLC chapter for Eldorado Brougham's.

Some folks have already received a mail regarding this if I had your contact information in my electronic Rolodex.  If you have already responded, no further response is required.

The plan so far would be a electronic club as there will be a small number of members due to the rareness of the cars, but the way I read the requirements, local functions are possible under the CLC umbrella, so we could have events, anything we want for that matter.

At first I was hoping to able to do this without any dues, but it looks like the cost of a website and maintenance will require a small amount.  This has not been completed, so more to come on what that will be.  Our numbers will be small, but even with that, I'm hoping for $30 or less a year.  The up front cost will be more than maintenance, so dues would be adjusted to just cover the costs.  I will have to put out a newsletter every so often.  The frequency is not defined, so we can see what works and how much is contributed by the rest of the body.

There has to be a minimum of 10 current CLC members to start and maintain this chapter, so enough people have responded already to get us started, so everyone to sign up now would be a charter member.  You will have to be current with your National Club dues to join and remain a member as long as you are a member of the EB chapter.

Please feel free to forward this on to other Brougham owners that I do not have contact information on, the more the better.

This might be a good way for us to have central information point for parts, tech tips, cars for sale, cars wanted, technical repairs tips and work around's.  Calls for repair help could also be disbursed through this system.

Al Haas is planning on taking our application to the Jan. 11 CLC board meeting for approval, so the charter membership list will be needed by years end.  Al has also agreed to be the Treasurer starting off.

These are some random thoughts, so please offer your ideas as well and if you like to help in any way.

I will pursue how to get a website to be the main point to host this chapter.  There has been an offer to create something at cost to get us going.

Call or email with ideas, suggestions, whatever.

This could be cool!

To answer Charles' question, all I need is your current mailing address, CLC number for the application form.  By default, I have that information in the current national directory as long as your forum responses include enough data to look it up.

Of course making it easy is also an option, so either post it here or send me a email with it.

I'm glad to see that someone has got the will to carry on where Cy Strickler and Allan Dowling left off. At last count, there were 577 survivors from the Eldorado Brougham production (1957-1960); that is more than 63% of the numbers built and has to be a world record (apart from the Bugatti Royale !). I will help in any way I can as these (with the Sixteens of 1930-1940) are among my favorite Cadillac models.

Me too David ... and please feel free to use any information on the Eldorado Brougham models that I have compiled over the years in the Cadillac Database, inspired by the late Cy Strickler, founder of the first (?) "Brougham Owners' Association - BOA".

Hello to Rick and Xavier,

I have you included on the master list, thanks for your interest!  The count is up to 27 eligible members.  As a note, you have to be a CLC member first, and be paid up with your national dues to join the new Brougham chapter.

Merry Christmas
