I am hearing about new lifters for a 346 flat head being sourced from China, and that they are not to specification.

Would appreciate any information, as I am in the market for a set

Recently fitted a set from Falcon. Guess they are from China. Have to say they are working perfectly.

All the 346 flatheads I have rebuilt, I have never found lifters I could not clean up and re-use. If I think they need to have the surface ground, they go out and are done-- After cleaning and checking that the check ball works and seats, good to go.
Sorry, I don't trust the offshore stuff.

Would not buy offshore lifters.  Would be worried the metallurgy is not right and they would run fine for first couple thousand miles, which may be a lifetime for some collectors.  Rather buy used.

Had to buy a single rocker arm for a 472 engine and after seeing the China made replacement without even comparing it to a used one, it was obvious it was junk.  Got a good used one and - perfection 19k miles later.  The China one was soft and poorly machined, and the used one was way better made.

Maybe they are made in the US after all then? I don't know, but there are several specialist flathead rebuilding in the States and they can't all be having their lifters fail?  Anyone know for sure where Falcon or Terrill Machine get theirs from?

I don't really know for sure but I believe they are made in China.  I also find it very interesting that all of the suppliers that I am aware of, including the ones you mentioned, use the same part number for the lifters they sell.  I think that means they all use the same manufacturer/supplier?
