I remember well 1976 when my car interest as a teenager was heightened.  The 1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible was the ultimate.  Oldsmobile was on top of the world with their "Can We Build One for You" campaign.  Those were good times for American cars.  I had to wait 29 years to buy a dream Cadillac convertible (bought my 1970 DVC in 2005).  Unrealistic that a guy in a suit and tie would prepare a car for storage - that was when Cadillac was total prestige.

Speculators soon drove prices into the stratosphere and in August of that year, 1976 Eldo Convertibles were changing hands for double sticker. Can only imagine the Cadillac collection the same money would have bought at the time. Hindsight...
