I need to re-plate the hood and trunk "V"'s and the Coupe Deville script below the rear windows on my '55. Were these originally gold plated or gold anodized? I have had opinions on both sides. Any idea of cost?

In 1955, they were gold plated.  The anodized versions started in 1956,
when the those parts changed to aluminum.

In any event, since the 1955 ones were made of brass, they couldn't
be "anodized".  That process only works on aluminum.  Thus, those who
are telling you that they should be "anodized" are not making any sense.

Thx Mike, that was my understanding also, so the anodizing did not make sense. I have polished the "V"'s so know they are brass. Wiil check on platers locally to do the work.
