Here's a mystery. In 58, the rod to the lock knob on a power lock option was smaller thread than non power lock, I've checked. The 59 set has a different part number for the lightning knob than the 58 knob. Does anyone know if the 59 power lock threads are same as non power, and if this is the reason for the different part numbers on the 58-59 lightning bolt knobs???

CORRECTION! It seems all 58's have same tiny threads. Do ALL 59's, power and non power, have same threads??

If I am not mistaken, these were only for the 58s with power locks. I think 58 was the first year Cadillac offered them. My 58 Biarritz has power locks, which are electric. The 59 model used  vacuum operated locks and did not use the lightning bolts on the knob.

g'day John and Barry,
59's definately had solenoid power operated locks and used the lightning bolt knobs on cars thus equipped . My 59 Biarritz did, as Eldos had them as standard. If I am not mistaken the 60's went to vacuum however I do not know if they retained the lightning bolt. And yes John, I believe the 59's all use the same thread. As I recall it is a different thread to my 57 Eldo (which would be the same as 58).
                             Regards. Quentin.
