I have a top shift transmission that I am attempting to disassemble. I am wondering how I get the shift forks off of the shift rods. I see that on the backside of both forks there is a threaded piece, but no hex or slot to back it out. Thanks in advance,

That pin has a taper fit and can be a bear to get out. In the absense of the special tool I remember SnapOn has one that will work. The tool fits around the head of the pin and then can be tightened like the chuck of a dremel tool. As the theroy goes, then the pin comes right out. Good Luck
