Man charged after reporting damage to stolen car

Associated Press
April 3, 2008

VERNON, Conn. - A 22-year-old Vernon man is facing criminal charges after he reported someone had bashed in a window of his 2008 Cadillac.

State police wondered how Eric Duval, who was only working through a temporary employment agency, could afford a $50,000 car.

With a few more questions, trooper determined that the car had been stolen and Duval has been charged with first-degree larceny.

State police say Duval told them he's buying the vehicle from Avis Rental at Bradley Airport in Windsor Locks.

Troopers checked with a manager at the Avis office at Bradley who said the Cadillac had been missing since March 19. The manager then asked that Duval be charged with its theft.
