I know there was a company called cadillac boat and marine, but did cadillac motor car division ever manufacture boats.  Thanks for any help.

Nope. There are many products that are named Cadillac, but the name of the company we are interested in was The Cadillac Motor Car Co. (of Detroit, MI, USA.) The name says it all. No boats.

I know for a fact that Cadillac engines were installed in some of the wooden boats used in inland waterways in the 30s and possibly the 40s as remember one from many years ago from the 1950s or 1960s.  It may have been a Chris Craft, but I could be wrong - but it was  a wooden open boat and this was long before the fiberglass boats.  I believe it was in the Thousand Islands area of the St. Lawrewce Seaway.  I usually attach pictures to my posts, but this time cannot come up with one.

FRED, I'am with you on this one. I think it was "Chris Craft" boat builders that use to advertize that they had Cadillac engines in the boats. Good Luck,JIM.

Although Chris craft may have used Cadillac engines (I don't know) There was indeed a Cadillac Boat Company in the 1950's and 60's which made aluminum speedboats. Many styles had fins and wraparound windshields. Please check the links below.

I also got a response from Tim Pawl and he has basically verified the information from these posts.

One model even used a version of the crest with boat and skier where the ducks are normally located.

I think what many of us would like to know is what connection , if any, was there between the car company and the boat company? Did the boat co pay a license fee or anything to Cadillac? The use of th Cadillac script and use of the badge seem pretty close to copyright infringement if there was no legal connection. Just wondering. I haven't been able to determine that yet.

Ya you wonder if theirs a connection, maybe their called Cadillac because their from Cadillac Michigan, and the use of the crest because it's the crest of LaMothe Cadillac, but the Cadillac script seems too close to Cadillac motor cars script, maybe their was aconnection somehow.
