Does anyone have a picture (or know where to find one on the web) of a 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible carpeted trunk.  My car is fully restored except for the trunk and I cannot find reference pictures to guide me in redoing the trunk.

Thanks

Joe

You might want to refer to the CLC's authenticity manual, or else check with a club member who owns one of these cars as listed in the directory.  Former CLC Technical Director Pete Peters (listed in the directory under Indiana) has restored one of these cars to a high level of authenticity.  I owned one some years ago, and as I recall, the trunk had a patterned mat, but not carpeting as we see in later model cars.  In general, pre-1970 cars did not have plush carpeted trunks.

Joe:

It's a woven fabric (not a carpet) that came in about half dozen colors (blue, green,
red, tan, black etc.) depending what your car's color code was.   Jenkins has the correct
materials. All you have to do is give him your body and trim codes and you'll be in business.
He has a website:  http://www.411web.com/j/jenkinsrestor/

I bought my trunk material for mine from him and am completely satisfied.  Mine
is a medium blue shade, since my body color (94) is Bahama Blue.

Good luck!!

Joe:  I had what I considered the best original 56 Eldo Biarritz in existence.  It was recently completely redone by Jim Covert in Florida, and sold at the RM auction for over  $200,000.  I have a graphic memory of the trunk, and I am sure I can help you.  585-739-2917.   Tony
