According to the CLC's Authenticity Manual for the late Sixteens, current (as of 2003) spark plugs for the 38-90's
are AC Delco R45 or R46 or Autolite 295. 39-90 and 40-90 engines take AC Delco M8. My understanding is that the 135% V-16 engines are somewhat difficult for those not familiar with them to get to run smoothly. Both carburetors have to be calibrated simultaneously and the two distributors have to be set up correctly and can easily be done so exactly backwards and the Authenticity Manual explains how to do it correctly. Brad Ipsen and Terry Wenger who are both CLC technical advisors for the late Sixteens and contributed to the manual (Brad as team leader) are both walking encyclopedias on those cars and both men have completely restored one or more of them.

Thanks Rusty,i am going to try a set of plugs for now, there seems to be a couple of them that are not firing,i checked the exhaust temps with a infrared thermometer and a couple of them were colder than others,as for the dizzys i will have to find someone who is versed on points,it is amazing how many mechanics are not familiar with point ignitions,i get a lot of blank stares when i ask some guys about doing some work on my old cars :-\.Thanks Harvey B
